Mastering And Avoiding Distortion¶
Most mobile devices audibly clip and distort signals as they get closer to 0dBFS. Furthermore, the rendering engine requires some amount of headroom for mixing and binaural processing.
When mixing content with the Spatial Workstation, it is recommended that you maintain at least 8-10dB of headroom on your 3D master bus. Using a multi-channel limiter can help keep the peaks in check, while also helping you achieve the loudness profile required for your mix.
As always, it is best to test your mix on the target device using the apps we provide or with the actual target application or platform you are mixing for.
